The Unicoi County Records Commission was established on March 22, 2010, by resolution of the county legislative body. Debbie Tittle, Register of Deeds, was elected Chairman and Teresa Simerly, Clerk and Master elected as Secretary.

The goal of the commission is to establish a permanent records management and archiving site for our county records and those with significant history.  The commission meets bi-annually and at other times as needed and public notice is provided.

The commission was able to purchase the First Horizon Building on Gay Street on December 13th, 2021 and paid for it with archiving fees collected on various services in various offices within the county. The building is currently under review by architects and engineers, to ensure the building will be conducive for the storage and access of county records.

Chairman Debbie Tittle, Secretary Teresa Simerly and records commission member Angie Georgeff, successfully completed training through Tennessee Library and Archives to become certified in archive management.
